Shapes of Knowledge (the most extensive survey of its kind in Australia) broaches notions of research, teaching and the laboratory in relation to art practice. The exhibition is on at MUMA from 9 February – 13 April.

Responding to its surroundings within Australia’s largest tertiary institution, the exhibition surveys eight important socio-pedagogic, knowledge-making art projects from Australia, Asia, Europe and Africa. Each of the participating artists, collaborations and organisations will be visiting Monash during the show.

Asia Art Archive are presenting their project Art Schools from Asia: Three Case Studies as part of the exhibition. Drawing on recent research into the archives of Bigakkō in Japan, Baroda in India, and Zhejian in China, they are asking the important question: how does the teaching of art impact its histories
