Over the last 12 months or so, William Yang and Annette Shun Wah have been working with Asian Australian hip hop artists Joelistics and James Mangohig from Sietta. They’ve extracted some fantastic stories and rare photos and home movie footage, and have now assembled a great creative team director Suzanne Chaundy, designer Eugyeene Teh and video artist Jean Poole, to turn these stories into a show with a unique perspective on the contemporary Asian Australian experience.
But the show has been a casualty of the significant funding cuts made by the Federal Government back in May, leading to the cancellation of the June funding round that they were aiming for, and tying up those funds somewhere inaccessible.
Performance 4a insists its artists are paid, and so to complete the design and rehearsal of the show in time for the Festival, they need to raise another $10,000 in the next 10 days.
Here’s your chance to be involved. Be an arts patron and pledge your support (there are some great rewards on offer including dinners with Joel and James, a photo by William Yang, or a workshop for your community group or school). Every dollar helps.
And, even if you’ve already donated (thank you) please consider helping us spread the word by circulating the link to our trailer, and the Pozible campaign: http://pozi.be/inbetweentwo
