AASRN member Owen Leong’s work has been included in Make Up: painted faces in contemporary photography, a major survey exhibition at Monash Gallery of Art.
About the exhibition:
The face-painted portrait has become a prominent feature of contemporary Australian photography. In photographs by Eric Bridgeman, Bindi Cole, Ray Cook, Sandy Edwards, Siri Hayes, Owen Leong, Darren Sylvester, Nat Thomas & Concettina Inserra, Christian Thompson and Justene Williams, people conceal and reveal themselves with face paint. In this survey of often very moving contemporary portraits, photography and identity are both cast as provisional and uncertain.
